Fill out a board & train request by clicking on the "Request Dates" button above. When you click on that button, it will forward you to our Paw Partner software. You will either need to login to your account or create an account.

Once logged in, go to Reservation -> Boarding -> fill out all the required information until you have checked out with the deposit to reserve your spot. Please note drop-off and pick-up dates must be on a Monday through Friday. We do take boarding over the weekend, but dogs must be checked in by Friday.

Once your dates are confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email. If we are not able to accept the dates you request, your deposit will be refunded.

In order to participate in our board & train program, we require that you have taken a class or completed private lessons with us in the past. Exceptions may be made on a case to case basis (typically for owners who live far from Owatonna, MN). If you are interested in boarding a dog that we have not met, please schedule a private lesson first so we can meet your dog and do further evaluation. Our board & train program is in our home with our kids and personal dogs, so we take this very seriously.

For safety reasons, all board & train dogs will be crated at night or if we need to run a quick errand. With this being said, if your dog has severe crate anxiety, please let us know.

We do not accept the following cases into our board & train program: dog aggression, human aggression, severe resource guarding, or severe separation anxiety.

The training provided is based on your individual goals. Paw Partner has a list of questions you will fill out when requesting your dates, and our trainers will work on the skills you prioritize within that checklist.

Times & Days: Drop-offs and pick-up times need to be scheduled directly with us by selecting a specific time when registering your dog. Scheduled times will need to be on a weekday between 7:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m. (for drop-off) and 3:00-5:30 p.m. (for pick-up). We do not offer drop-off or pick-up on Saturdays or Sundays.

Location: Pick-up and drop-off are typically performed at the training facility. Unless otherwise arranged, your dog will need to be dropped off and picked up there. The address is 2010 S Cedar Ave, Owatonna, MN 55060.

Charges: Charges are accumulated on a per night basis. There is a three night minimum. Stays of less than three nights must get approval and additional fees may apply.

Dogs MUST be current on the following:

For Puppies 16 weeks and younger

• 2nd series of Distemper vaccination (DHPP)

• Bordetella vaccination

• Flea & tick preventative - even in the winter! Must be oral or topical (collars do not count).

For Dogs Over 16 Weeks

• Distemper vaccination

• Rabies vaccination (if 16 weeks or older)

• Bordetella vaccination

• Flea & tick preventative - even in the winter! Must be oral or topical (collars do not count).

Due to the nature of our board & train program being offered in our personal homes, we do not accept the following cases: dog-to-dog aggression, dog-to-human aggression, severe resource guarding, or severe separation anxiety. As an alternative, we are happy to set up private lessons at our facility for these cases.

We do accept dogs with reactivity into our board & train program. If you have questions about this, please contact us directly.

Intact males and females are allowed. We do not require dogs to be spayed or neutered by a certain age.

For females in heat, we encourage them to stay home and reschedule if possible. If your dog needs to attend boarding in the specific timeframe scheduled do to travel, we can accept them. You will need to notify us of this and send diapers/appropriate supplies.

Due to limited availability, we do not offer multi-dog discounts or boarding only options at this time.

At Havana Dog Training, we realize every canine is an individual. With each individual dog comes unique personalities, goals, and needs. We use a variety of methods on a case by case basis to achieve these goals.

We are a balanced training facility. We rely primarily on positive reinforcement and rewarding dogs for good behavior using marker words in combination with treats, toys, praise, play, and whatever else motivates the dog. This is especially true when laying foundations and training new skills. We don't believe it is fair to punish a dog that hasn't been taught the correct behavior clearly and consistently through positive reinforcement first.

With this being said, we do not limit ourselves to only positive reinforcement. We believe that dogs can understand right versus wrong. For effective communication, we use a variety tools which can include food, toys, treats, leash pressure, non-marker words, prong collars, and electronic collars. We are committed to training in a way that is fair to the dog and promotes mutual respect between canine and owner.
